Senior Application Support Specialist (12 month contract)

We are ready to take this game to the next level and need a passionate Application Support Specialist who can provide day-to-day support and maintenance of cloud and on-premises operations, including managing all aspects of the application environment to meet current and future application demand.


Reporting to the Senior Cloud Operations Manager, the Senior Application Cloud Operations Specialist will be empowered to partner with key stakeholders to:

Daily responsibilities

  • Provision of on-premises/cloud application/system activities, including monitoring, implementations, upgrades/patches, maintenance, optimizations, and lifecycle management, as required, to deliver solutions stable and reliable technologies
  • Design, develop, and deliver application enhancements using Cloud Operations pillars methodologies, tools, and best practice frameworks to achieve quality standards consistently
  • Obligation to be on call rotation and to respond to emergency situations outside normal working hours

Provide support

  • Prepares and provides support with implementations and integration of new applications to ensure system stability
  • Provides Tier 2 application support and escalates as necessary to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner

Risk mitigation strategies

  • Updates, executes and validates outage response and disaster recovery plans to ensure standards and timelines are met and maintained
  • Identifies, assesses and communicates cloud/on-premises operational risks and supports the development of recommendations outlining how to reduce any risk exposure
  • Maintains and updates documentation of key cloud operations processes and procedures to ensure safeguards are kept current and utilized by new entrants to enable business continuity


Professional experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in technology or related role. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in cloud/on-premises operations/application maintenance, development and support in a fast-paced enterprise environment.

Education: Post-secondary degree, preferably in information systems, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Primary knowledge (6 to 10 skills): Technical troubleshooting, application operation and health monitoring, cloud resource management, systems management, application maintenance, software installation and support, CI/CD pipeline, test automation and continuous testing, performance measurement and tuning

Secondary knowledge (6 to 10 skills): Structured Query Language (SQL), Sybase, MS SQL, AIX, Linux, Windows, Open VMS, Python, C#, C++, GO, JavaScript, Azure Service Bus, Docker, GitLab, OpenVMS DCL, NetBeans, RedHat Jboss EAP, Hazelcast , Redis, Dynatrace APM, Kibana, Logstash, Elasticsearch
