There will be a free run or run/bike event on May 7 in Córdoba. It’s called the Bay to Bay in May. The event begins in Hartney Bay and will end at Orca Bay Lodge. It is open to all ages. Participants can either complete the entire 9 mile course or bike 6 miles to the Cordova Center and then run/walk the 3 miles to Orca Adventure Lodge.

Families are encouraged to participate together, or you may want to finish with a friend. It can be a race for some local runners or people visiting the city. It would be great to see who can do the best time! For most of us, this should just be one big point-to-point adventure along a very scenic stretch of road. The fastest times will be published, but prizes will go to the average men’s and women’s times. That’s right, try to get the median/average time and you could win a fully customizable Copper River Fleece Jacket gift certificate.

Bay-to-Bay Event

This event coincides with the Shorebird Festival, but it is equally important that it is the last weekend before commercial and subsistence gillnet fishing begins. It would be great to see some of our commercial fishing, ADF&G, and USFS communities there before things get busy.

Runners will leave at 11 a.m. sharp and cyclists will leave at 11:30 a.m. in Hartney Bay. All attendees or their parents will be required to sign a waiver, but this may occur on the morning of the event. PLEASE arrive a little early if you need to fill out a waiver! I would greatly appreciate it if you register in advance so that we know how many people we expect. There will be no shuttle service from Orca Bay, so coordinate pickup with a friend or family, or for some of you, just return to town to pick up your bike.

For more information, to register or to volunteer, please contact the CCMC Primary Care Office at 907-424-8200. We’ll see each other there!
