Purdue University Global Partnership to Enhance CityWorks DC Career Preparation Program
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A partnership between Purdue University Global and CityWorks DC will improve career preparation for high school students in the Washington, DC area and potentially other markets in the future.
CityWorks DC runs a program called CareerWise DC which offers a three-year applied learning environment for students and an innovative talent acquisition strategy for companies. Purdue Global will support this initiative by providing educational products and referrals that meet the needs of CareerWise DC employer partners. The initial portfolio will include microloans, course packages, certificates and diplomas in the areas of business operations, financial services and information technology, and will expand to include other industries in the coming years. .
Additionally, Purdue Global will provide resources and one-on-one support to help students pursue their career goals, while collaborating with their employers and professional organizations in mutually beneficial relationships to better educate students on industry trends and opportunities. employment.

Currently, CareerWise DC students divide time between their traditional high school classroom and the workplace. They earn a salary while gaining hands-on work experience as an apprentice where they can apply their learning in the classroom every week. CityWorks DC anticipates that the typical apprentice will take between three and six Purdue Global courses during the duration of the apprenticeship.
