No Label Brewing Company Looking For A Full Time Cellarman

No Label Brewing Company, located in Katy, TX, is recruiting a full-time Cellarman position. We operate a 15 barrel brewery and produce over 5,000 barrels per year. The salaried position is 40 h / week. The ideal candidate will be hardworking, mechanically inclined, and passionate about beer and the quality of beer. This position reports to the Head Brewer and will serve as a member of the operations team working in the cellar and on the packaging line.

Qualifications:

• Preferred (but not required) 1 year of experience in a packaging brewery. Training, training, certifications or formal accreditation on the brewing / packaging chain is a plus.

• Working knowledge of packaging / brewing / processing equipment including: beer canning line, depalletizer, keg washer, malt grinding, CIP tank, yeast harvesting, brewery equipment and cellar equipment.

• Skills applicable to general maintenance functions including mechanical, electrical, and brite line / tank maintenance is a plus.

• The ability to operate a forklift and scissor lift; current training certification is a plus.

• The ability to read and interpret manuals, diagrams and plans.

• The ability to understand basic laboratory techniques and perform basic laboratory tests.

• The ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and occasional evenings.

• The ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision in a collaborative and dynamic environment, while effectively prioritizing tasks and managing workload effectively.

Primary Responsibilities (include, but not limited to):

The guard

• Maintain and operate our 5,000 barrel per year cellar and associated equipment, including proper product handling.

• Thoroughly clean fermenters and brite tanks from 7 bar to 60 bar

• Harvesting / counting cells, maintaining and launching a good healthy yeast

• Check gravity throughout fermentation

• Knowledge of fermentation (diacetyl test, unpleasant flavors, free rise, tanks that crash when the beer is ready)

• Help a team produce a high volume of high quality packaged / filled beer while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment, following all schedules and volumes required by Head Brewer.

• Ensure daily cellar activities are completed in a timely manner.

• Maintain the integrity and “branded” profile of all our unlabeled beers.

• Make sure tanks are emptied / cleaned and are available according to the brewing schedule to avoid production stoppage.

• Maintain an inventory of chemicals required for cleaning and disinfection.

• Record production and batch / batch data using journal sheets

• Support the packaging line manager with our Twin Monkeys canning line

• General cleaning and organization of the packing area and surrounding areas, including brite tanks and cellar, packing materials and other storage areas.

• Observe the operation of the machine to ensure that the filled or packaged products comply with the brewery standards and report any problems to the head brewer.

• Work in tandem with the brewing team, head brewer, operations manager and QA / QC.

• Perform all necessary functions of the keg processes, including the operation of the 2-head keg washer, exterior cleaning of kegs, filling of kegs and other cleaning / disinfection processes.

Brewery working environment

The demands of the Cellarman job are very physical in nature. The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of that position. While performing the duties of this job, you will be working on, under, and around machines in tight, cramped spaces.

A good candidate will also need to be able to lift and / or move up to 60 pounds, be able to twist and turn repeatedly, be able to step over their shoulders and work while standing, kneeling, walking and squatting at a steady pace for long periods of time. The candidate should be comfortable working at heights over 10 feet, standing on a ladder or on a scissor lift platform. The candidate must be able to safely handle hazardous chemicals.

This working environment includes indoor and outdoor activities in various temperatures and weather conditions. Employees are exposed to high levels of noise and other hazards requiring the use of personal protective equipment. Adherence to company policies is a must.
